As promised here are more pictures of Xmas Torch in Kenya 2007! We are already working on 2008!!! From these pictures you will see the children playing games they had never played before, lots of dancing, "Father Xmas", and them recieving gifts from Father Xmas! But above all what you wil see is what you helped us achive last year because without most of you out there my friends and friends of friends this would never have happened!
Can't say enough Thank You's!!!!
Most less fortunate children all over the world have someone or group doing something to help them; orphans have orphanages, disabled have special homes, etc. What most of these homes or groups can provide is mostly food, shelter and those who can an education. Remember these are children who've had to deal with tough situations and circumstances that really no child should go through! It is often forgotten though that they are children after all, however brave or tough their situations have made them. Xmas Torch was conceived in 2007 specifically for these children and for this purpose. A day exclusively set for them to feel like children, a day of ultimate celebration especially during the festive seasons, Christmas in particular.
The main objective of Xmas Torch is to spend 1-2(depending on the money raised that year) unforgettable days with children who are affected or infected by incurable diseases, poverty, orphans, rape victims and others.
Over these days, the children engage in various outdoor activities which are educational, motivational and above all fun! At the end of these 1-2 days stint, it is our hope that the children leave there feeling more confident and positive about life!
I am a young Kenyan lady living and working in Muscat-Oman. In the recent years years I have learnt that you don't need to be a millionaire to be a philanthropist. In any small way you can make a difference in someone's life. As Richard L Evans says, "Children will not remember you for the material things that you provided but for the feeling that you cherished them." Xmas Torch's aim is to make these children feel cherished just for that one day! God bless you all.
